Sustainable Manufacturing
At our factory in Cixi, Ningbo, we have integrated sustainable practices into every stage of production. One of our most significant environmental decisions has been the adoption of R290 natural refrigerant for our portable ice maker and split air conditioner product lines. R290 (propane) has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 3, making it over 475 times less harmful to the climate than conventional refrigerants like R134a (GWP 1,430). This choice directly supports the global transition away from high-GWP hydrofluorocarbons under the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol.
Beyond refrigerants, our manufacturing operations are designed to minimize energy consumption and material waste. We have implemented energy-efficient lighting and equipment across our facility. Production scrap from plastic injection molding and metal fabrication is collected, sorted, and recycled through certified waste processors. By adopting lean manufacturing principles, we have reduced material waste rates and improved energy efficiency per unit produced.
Quality & Certifications
Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015, the internationally recognized standard for quality management. This certification reflects our commitment to consistent product quality, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. Our quality control process follows a three-stage approach: Incoming Quality Control (IQC) verifies raw materials and components before they enter production; In-Process Quality Control (IPQC) monitors each assembly stage through systematic checks; and Outgoing Quality Control (OQC) ensures every finished product meets our specifications before shipment.
All DeTong products carry CE and CB certifications, confirming compliance with European safety, health, and environmental directives. Our products also meet RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) requirements, ensuring our manufacturing processes avoid restricted chemicals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium. We maintain an in-house testing laboratory equipped to perform performance verification, safety testing, and durability assessments, validating product quality before products leave our facility.
Environmental Responsibility
Environmental stewardship is a core operating principle at DeTong. We comply fully with Chinese environmental protection laws and regulations, including the Environmental Protection Law and the Law on the Prevention and Control of Air Pollution. Our waste management system separates hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, with all hazardous materials handled by licensed disposal contractors.
We prioritize material sourcing from suppliers who share our environmental values. Where possible, we select materials that are recyclable, durable, and produced with lower environmental impact. Our packaging strategy emphasizes minimal yet protective packaging, using corrugated cardboard and other recyclable materials to reduce the environmental footprint of shipments to our global customers.
Labor & Community
With over 200 employees at our Ningbo facility, DeTong is committed to providing safe, fair, and rewarding working conditions. Our factory complies with all applicable Chinese labor laws, including regulations on working hours, overtime compensation, social insurance, and occupational health and safety. We conduct regular safety training sessions and maintain comprehensive emergency response procedures.
We prioritize hiring from the local communities around Cixi, contributing to regional economic development and reducing the environmental impact of long employee commutes. Our skill development programs provide workers with ongoing training in production techniques, quality awareness, and safety practices. We believe that investing in our people makes both ethical and business sense, resulting in higher quality products and a more engaged workforce.
Supply Chain Responsibility
Our commitment to responsibility extends beyond our factory walls. We maintain a supplier qualification and auditing program that evaluates potential partners on quality, environmental compliance, and ethical labor practices. Regular audits help us verify that our suppliers meet the same standards we hold ourselves to.
We work primarily with certified material suppliers who can demonstrate compliance with relevant environmental and quality standards. By building long-term relationships with responsible suppliers, we create a more transparent and resilient supply chain. When issues arise during audits, we work collaboratively with suppliers to implement corrective actions, helping to raise standards across our supply base.
